Third Bridge: Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge

Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is a bridge that faces the Black Sea side of Istanbul and was built in the north. It connects the Asian and European sides of Istanbul, such as the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is within the borders of Beykoz on the Asian side and Sariyer on the European side. The construction of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge started in 2013 and was completed in 2016. Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is the world's widest suspension bridge with a width of 59 meters and the highest suspension bridge with a tower height of 322 meters. It is also the longest suspension bridge in the world with a rail system on it. Since Istanbul Turkey has a very high population and the two bridges on the Bosphorus are no longer sufficient for traffic, the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge was built. Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, located on the Northern Marmara Highway main line in the north of Istanbul, relieved Istanbul traffic as expected. The passing of heavy vehicles on the other two bridges, which are closer to the city center of Istanbul, caused confusion for Istanbul traffic. With the construction of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, all heavy vehicles have to pass over the third bridge. This prevented confusion in the city center of Istanbul.
